More Information About ARK Conservation
ARK Conservation is a non-profit organization that is focused on teaching young children about the ocean and marine life so that they grow up to learn and care about the ocean.
Our Team
Anslee Kennedy
Founder
Anslee Kennedy is a driven and motivated highschool sophomore with a love of marine biology and veterinary medicine. She particularly enjoys dancing as well as spending time with her friends and pets. Anslee wanted to share her love and passion for marine animals with young children in order to introduce them to the magic of the ocean and how they can protect it. If it weren’t for silly rules, she would be the President of ARK Conservation.
Matthew Kennedy
President
Matt works in the financial industry trading the debt of the Caribbean and Latin American countries. When he isn't doing that, he is either spending time with his amazing wife and 2 wonderful daughters or running (being pulled) with the family Siberian Huskies, Bowen & Cookie. He also loves to surf, read, kayak, hike, draw, and do yard work/gardening.
Karen Kennedy
Treasurer
Karen received her bachelors degree from Kennesaw State University and currently works for Georgia virtual schools. But her main focus in life is her family. She most enjoys spending time with her husband Matt and their two daughters, Abby and Anslee. Karen is a constantly involved parent (without the requisite helicopter) and focuses her energy on helping (ok…pushing) her daughters to fulfill their dreams and passions.
Abagail Chepenik
Secretary
Abagail Chepenik is an infectious disease researcher with degrees from George Washington University (B.A.) and Georgetown University (M.S.). She has a passion for global public health and neuroepidemiology with particular interests in the current COVID-19 pandemic as well as health disparities.
Cassie Smith
Board Member
Cassie Smith is an educator and passionate about learning through an intersectional lens. This means that not only does she love to help others investigate the world, but also actively explores a multitude of curiosities about the world - from history to ecology, from chemistry to music - exploring how these parts of our world connect and diverge. Cassie has a deep fascination about how humans have shaped our planet and finding strategies to help!
She has degrees from Georgia State (B. A) and Mercer University (M.A).
